The Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts is situated in a minimalist space on the river and opposite the German Historical Museum. The gallery has been presenting idiosyncratic art by well-known international contemporary artists from around the world since 1992. Showcasing cutting-edge art in a variety of media, the CFA keeps a close watch on the art world by displaying thought-provoking, immersive works and it has built up a reputation as a trendsetter in the international art industry.

Located in the Palazzo delle Belle Arti, the National Gallery of Modern Art was founded in 1883 to represent the national art of the newly unified Italian State. It displays a wide range of artworks created between the late 19th century and the second half of the 20th century and is the only national state museum in Italy that is dedicated to modern and contemporary art.

The Galleria dell' Accademia in Florence is renowned for its wonderful collection of unfinished marble statues of slaves by Michelangelo in the Hall of the Prisoners. Today these statues line a long corridor at the end of which is the iconic Statue of David.

Try your hand at designing a traditional venetian mask at the Ca’ Macana mask making workshop. This Aladdin’s Cave is tucked away in a quiet back street but is one of Venice’s most famous mask makers, with an incredible array of exuberant styles and designs. The basic mask is supplied, and your students need to paint and decorate it to their own design. All the materials and protective clothing is supplied and at the end you can keep your mask.

The Galleria dell' Accademia is the essential visit to see the treasures of the Venetian Renaissance including art works by Bellini, Titian and Tiepolo. Among the highlights are the works by Paolo Caliari, better known as Veronese, including the monumental Feast in the House of Levi. Also of note are the collection of works depicting the Legend of St. Ursula by Vittore Carpaccio.

The Louvre is perhaps the most famous art museum in the world where you can discover the tremendous array of art and sculpture including, of course, Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Other works not to be missed include the Venus de Milo, Liberty Leading the People by Delacroix, and the Great Sphinx of Tanis in the Egyptian collection. There are also works by great English artists including Turner and Gainsborough.

The Albertina Museum displays some of the most exciting art movements of the last 130 years: from French impressionism to German expressionism to the Russian Avant Garde and the present. Monet's Water Lily Pond, Degas' Dancers and Renoir's Girl can all be seen here. The collection also includes works by artists such as Chagall, Picasso, Cezanne and of course the ever-present Gustav Klimt.

The Picasso Museum houses a collection of over 4000 works by this most famous of Spanish artists. Established in 1963, the museum is located in a series of medieval palaces dating from the 13th and 14th centuries.  Although Picasso was born in Malaga, he spent some of his formative years living in Barcelona in what is referred to as the Blue Period during which his art drew on austere themes such as poverty, blindness and prostitution couple with the use of blues and greens to create a sombre appearance.
